Closing weekend events at Keystone


Now is the time to plan for your last and best days of 2016 skiing. The snow has been plentiful the last few weeks. So, book your housing and get ready for some unique and fun last few weeks on the mountain. Closing day at Keystone is scheduled for April 10, 2016 with fun on snow events to celebrate the season for both participants and spectators. The Mountain House Base Area will be alive with fun, food, and drinks. 

April 2 is officially Red Bull Schlittentag or “sledding day”. Basically it is a build your own sled with a team and get on down the mountain! Join the fun and follow the simple rules for great prizes! Don't forget your costumes! Sled drop off is at 10:00 AM Inspection of sleds is at 1:00 PM Event is at 2:00 PM

Rules: Teams will consist of 3 people and may have 1-3 people riding the sled down, however, one person must be designated as “pilot”. No prefabricated sleds No engines or batteries or external energy sources No launching from your craft (intentionally) or launching any items from it No throwing anything while coming down the hill No fire No pyro (firecrackers/torches/etc) No use of power tools on site during build out No smoke of any kind - especially using dry ice Drivers must be at least 18 yrs old Craft has to make it down the course to be considered in the competition Helmets must be worn by all 3 teammates during launch

Judging: Participants will be judged on three things, earning up to ten points for each category: Creativity Fastest Time Distance “flown” off of Kicker

Sunday, April 10 is the last day of skiing. Keystone is famous for the closing day Slush Cup! Slush Cup It's a closing weekend tradition! Compete in the 2016 Keystone Slush Cup! Award categories include: Best Costume and Best Overall. Enjoy live music from the Beloved Invaders! 

Kidtopia Slush CupKidtopia Slush Cup Ages 6-13 yrs old can compete. There will be a specific smaller low impact pond for this age group and parents must be onsite at the pond while their child is dropping and at all times during the event. Ages 14-17yrs old will be given the option to skim either the adult or children's pool.

Tentative Schedule of Events: 9:30am - 11:00am Registration 11:00am - 2:00pm Pond Skimming Competition Awards to follow $30 to participate. Day of registration open based on availability. Junior Slush Cup Registration: Free! Day of registration open based on availability.
