Summer in Summit County is home to a number of freakishly fun festivals. On any given weekend, you can wander through art kiosks, listen to world class music, participate in various races, and always eat good food. Call Key to the Rockies to book your summer stay- you wont be disappointed!
One of my familys favorite events is the Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco. Held every June, its full of locals enjoying the long, sunny days. Frisco blocks off Main Street, so venders can line the street with beer, barbecue, and loads of corn on the cob with hay bales and picnic tables lining the center street. If youre not a meat eater, dont worryyou can feast on fried dough and skewers of chocolate dipped fruit. Sample are small so you can try a little of everything. If you do eat meat, try award-winning barbecue from Colorado, Texas, Kansas City, and North Carolina.
Bring a raincoat and sunscreen- inevitably there will be both rain and sun, offering spectacular rainbows. And dont forget your kidspart of the festival is set up with bouncy houses and face-painting. The Summit Daily outlines the daily music and scheduled events. This years festival is June 13-14 and marks the events 21st year. Check it out! Theres something for everyone to enjoy.
