Key To The Rockies at Keystone Skiing Tips for Your Colorado Vacation!

The weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, so here a few tips for dressing and keeping warm when taking a Keystone, Colorado ski or snowboarding trip.
First, before you go up the mountain, watch the local television station forecast which will be better than on-line forecasts. This will help you plan for the day. Remember, if you walk outside your condominium door and think it is will be a lot colder up on the beautiful Keystone peaks and on the chairlift, so dress and leave prepared.
Experts recommend to layer up! As the temperatures will most likely be colder before 11am and then when the sun sets behind the mountains and the shade hits the runs in the late afternoon, you will need to be prepared. Start with warm ski socks (not cotton socks) wicking long johns and snow pants on your legs and then layer up on top. Layering is great as you can always take off a layer and wrap it around your waist. Top layer suggestions are a wicking long sleeve undershirt as your first layer,  cotton t-shirt, ski sweater and a jacket. And then, don't forget your head and neck...face bandana or neck gators are great protectors and if you don't wear a helmet, a hat is great to have on hand. For your hands, wicking gloves, ski gloves or mittens and remember your goggles or UV protected sunglasses. Also, put on your sunscreen and re-apply several times thru the day, as that Colorado sunshine is more intense at higher altitudes than at lower altitudes.
So have fun, bring your chapstick, a granola bar or trail mix snack on the chair and get up the mountain! Have questions, we can help, call Key To The Rockies at Keystone, Colorado, for vacation rentals, lodging in Keystone, Dillon and Silverthorne at 800 248 1942 in USA or 970 468 1898.
